Scott Berkun calls himself a “kick-ass public speaker”. I’d never do that, myself, as I’m far too modest (it’s still true, though). However, I do frequently speak on a variety of topics to audiences ranging from the entire workforce of large corporations to gatherings of entrepreneurs to sessions with a company’s top management, and people do tend to ask me to come back. I quite enjoy it too (both speaking and coming back). So I am in fact a professional public speaker, with the references to back that claim up. And if you’ve stumbled upon these pages because you’re interested in hiring me for an event, the contact details are right there to your right.
I’ve talked for audiences from six people to more than a thousand, at events for global corporations, as well as for start-ups, municipalities, not-for-profits, and (obviously) universities and other institutes of higher (and lower) education. I’ve taken part of big shows set up by event organizers as well as headlined major events arranged by large associations. And I’ve sat and had dialogues with groups of six to ten people. It’s all good.
Stuff I tend to speak about is the future of strategy, heretical creativity, serious innovation, the bizarre world of consumer behavior, and good food. Often I speak about several of these at the same time. Topics that have figured in recent speaking engagements include (but are not limited to):
- Creativity for Heretics - When Improper Thinking Is Your Best Asset
- The Weirdness and the Wonder of the New Consumers
- Haute Management, or Spicing Up Your Leadership
- The Disruptive Innovation of the Creative Economy
- Strategy In a Social Age
