By way of boingboing I today learnt that SMS-texting is about four times as expensive as getting data from Hubble. In other words, phone companies are fleecing us all. Goes some way to explain my phone bills, no way towards helping to pay for them.

So here I am, feeling like refried dog carcass, sitting outside my house in sweatpants and a jacket from Sand, bashing out the final 500 words on a little chapter for the book Mats Börjesson and I are writing on power. My son just brought me an ice-cream, which was very nice of him. I really don’t feel like summarizing Slavoj Zizek. At least I’ve finished my chapter on creativity for another book.

This might be the most important news-story of the coming five to eight years, yet media in Scandinavia have barely mentioned it. Once again my old obsession is proven true – media just doesn’t get the economy (except some of the really world-class newspapers, and even they slip up quite often).

This made me laugh. No longer is there a mysterious businessman or the nephew of a dead dictator contacting me, now it is the wife of a world-famous Russian multi-billlionaire – who seems to have no contacts out of Russia (funny that) and likes to use free mail from Yahoo…

So I should be finishing a book, and read danah boyd and her call for a boycott of locked-down academic journals. But I’m not. I’m tired, worn out, out of sync, in need of about 72 hours of perfect uninpeded sleep. Gave a talk yesterday to a rather sizable audience of entrepreneurs (and budding entrepreneurs), which was fun. But I tells ya, it takes it out of you. Also feel bad about not having quite come to grips with my intended project of using Issuu and Slideshare and media up my homepage (feel I’m falling behind the technical curve — as most professors are). Well, well…
